Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Utilities sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr), which rose 7.55% or 0.004 points to trade at 0.057 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 5.56% or 0.039 points to end at 0.740 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 3.87% or 0.011 points to 0.295 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which fell 8.82% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.155 at the close. Korres (AT:KRRr) declined 4.31% or 0.180 points to end at 4.000 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) was down 3.57% or 0.050 points to 1.350.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 65 to 44 and 12 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 6.97 to $1277.47 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $54.37 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.08 to trade at $60.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1615, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8764.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 94.70.
